Phoenix Welcome in Christchurch - by regular TFS
listener and contributor Ron Griffiths
What a joy for South Island Footy fans that Wellington
Phoenix will play a friendly here in Christchurch. So often
ignored by the football powers that be, this will be an
event to savour. When the All Whites played Malaysia down
here it drew a crowd of 10.000. So there clearly is
interest. Although the 'Knights' had the prefix New Zealand,
I never felt a true connection with them because of their
reluctance to travel south. It speaks volumes then for for a
team with the prefix Wellington that they are prepared to
travel around NZ. Hopefully making new friends as they go.
Lets hope that prime TV also start to show Phoenix games. My
budget does not stretch to have SKY installed. It is vital
for maximum publicity and audience viewing that Prime TV
show games. So many more people could enjoy games for free.
More viewers = More interest = more participation = we give
Rugby a run for its money!. (Well that's the dream anyway!) |
